What it is
Applied Nutrition BCAA Amino-Hydrate is a sugar-free intra-workout and recovery drink powder that combines branched-chain amino acids with a hydration-focused electrolyte blend. It also provides a 1240mg electrolyte blend (sodium, potassium, calcium and chloride) to help replace what you lose through sweat, plus vitamin B6, which contributes to normal protein and glycogen metabolism. Being sugar-free and very low in calories, it is an easy-sipping option to keep going through longer or harder sessions. It suits gym-goers, bodybuilders, endurance athletes and anyone wanting a refreshing amino and electrolyte drink during training or across the day. Simply mix one scoop with water and sip during your workout. Nutrition (per serving): Serving size: 1 scoop (14g). Servings per 450g tub: 32. Per serving: Energy 45 kcal; Protein 0g (amino acids listed separately); Carbohydrate 1.2g, of which sugars 0.04g; Fat 0.03g, of which saturates 0g; Salt approx 0.6g. Icy Blue Raz is a tart blue-raspberry with a cold finish, the most refreshing of the three when you are overheating.

People training long or twice a day in the heat who want something sharp and cold to sip rather than another sweet fruit drink.
How to use it
Each 14g serving delivers 7g of BCAAs in the research-favoured 2:1:1 leucine-led ratio, alongside 3g of L-glutamine and 1g of L-citrulline for an added intra-workout pump. Directions: Mix 1 scoop (14g) with approximately 500ml of water and shake well. Consume during exercise on training days, or throughout the day on non-training days. Take 1-3 times daily.
Worth knowing
Stimulant-free. If you track calories to the gram, note the roughly 45 kcal per serving on the label; Applied Nutrition Amino Fuel sits nearer genuinely calorie-free if that matters.
Our take
Worth knowing before you buy: the panel on this one lists about 45 kcal and 1.2g of carbs per scoop even though it is sold as sugar-free. Still small, but not literally zero if you count everything. Beyond that it is the same 7g BCAA and electrolyte mix, and Blue Raz is the sharpest of the three.
